Hyderabad, Former MP and TPCC vice-president Ponnam Prabhakar today faulted Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely for stating that the Telangana State was No 1 in the country. He asked Jaitely as to why the BJP has a party unit in Telangana when TRS was doing well.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday, the former Congress MP said the Prime Minister was telling stories and TRS MPs were sitting calm in Parliament when Modi spoke in an insulting manner. Ponnam also alleged that Irrigation Minister Harish Rao kept silent while addressing a letter to the Centre on red gram farmers’ issue.
The Congress leader said in the last 60 years the State’s debts were only Rs 69,000 crore but after KCR became Chief Minister the debts were increased to Rs 1.69 lakh crores. He also said the Congress would send saffron, turmeric and bangles to the TRS MPs if they remained mute in parliament.
Former Union minister Balaram Naik said the TRS MPs shamelessly remained silent when the Prime Minister insulted aspirations of Telangana people.
