Ponnam, Rasamayi cross swords in Karimnagar

Hyderabad : Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar and TRS MLA Rasamayi Balakishan entered into a heated argument at Karimnagar on Thursday in the presence of Health Minister Laxma Reddy.

Ponnam Prabhakar submitted a memorandum to Laxma Reddy urging him to help set up a Medical College in Karimnagar. Ponnam, along with Congress leaders took the Minister separately and have shown the video in which Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s assurance made to the people during his visit to Karimnagar in 2014. Ponnam brought to the notice of the Minister that the Chief Minister was not concentrating on his own assurance of setting up MedicalCollege. He said the Chief Minister allocated Rs.700 crore to Siddipet and granted Medical College. Ponnam alleged that the Chief Minister was showing clear discrimination towards Karimnagar.

While listening Ponnam’s complaints, Rasamai Balakishan expressed displeasure at Ponnam and an argument took place between the two. Police took Balkishan away from there. Later, the Congress leaders raised slogans against the TRS leaders. Ponnam warned the State government that he would go on fast-unto-death if the government failed to set up medical college in Karimnagar.

Speaking to the media later, Laxma Reddy said the State government was setting up Medical colleges one by one where there were no medical colleges across the State. He assured that the government would set up a Medical College and SuperSpecialty Hospital in Karimnagar soon. He also assured that an ICU will be set up in Karimnagar Government Hospital. He informed that the government would set up Kidney Dialysis Centers at 39 places across the State. “The government also would provide MRI Scan facilities across the State and it will strive to transform the Telangana State as healthy State”, he said.
