Political activities are picking up momentum for Assembly polls in Maharashtra and Haryana. Scrutiny of nominations has been completed in Maharashtra. Out of total 5,543 nominations filed, 4,739 were found valid and 798 papers were rejected.
Candidates can withdraw their nominations till tomorrow. Our Mumbai correspondent reports that the picture will become clearer tomorrow as some of the rebel candidates are likely to withdraw their nominations.
In Haryana, scrutiny of nomination papers is continuing. So far, the election office has completed scrutiny of 1,696 nominations. Of them, 1,363 have been found valid and 333 were rejected. Three candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers.
The two states will go to polls on 21st of this month. Counting will be taken up on 24th.
