Hyderabad, May 3: The migrant workers from at NTPC area of Peddapalle district today staged a sit-in program on Rajiv Rahadari demanding the authorities of the state government to send them back to their native places. The workers are working at public sector company NTPC. They belonged to states like West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.
The workers approached NTPC police and submitted an application urging them to send them back to their native places on Saturday. As there was no response from the authorities, the migrant workers again visited the police station on Sunday morning and once again made the same request. The police told them that it would take time for them to send them back to their homes. Angered at this, they staged a protest program on the state highway. Left with no option police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the crowd.
The local MLA Korukanti Chander reached the spot and held talks with the workers. He told the workers that they would make arrangements for sending the workers back to their native places within the next two days. (PMI)
