Hyderabad, Nov.14 (PMI): The police today arrested former MLA and BJP leader Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy in Munugodu. The arrest led to tense moments in the constituency for some time. The arrest of Reddy took place when he was holding a protest alleging that the State government had frozen the money paid to the Golla Kuruma community of the Munugodu Assembly constituency under its Sheep Distribution scheme ahead of the Munugodu by-election.
He demanded that the State government immediately unfreeze bank accounts of the beneficiaries of the scheme. He also alleged that the State government was trying to take back the amount credited into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries by freezing their accounts.
Reddy sat on a protest for two hours. The BJP activists tried to stop the police from taking Reddy into his vehicle and raised slogans against them. However, the police dispersed them and took Reddy to a police station. Reddy’s protest coincided with a massive welcome rally of the newly elected MLA of the constituency Koosukuntla Prabhakar Reddy.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajagopal Reddy warned the State government that he would lay siege around the camp office of Chief Minister KCR with Golla Kuruma community people if his demand was not met. He alleged that the State government had cheated the Dalits by promising Dalita Bandhu scheme in the past.
He alleged that CM KCR cheated all the sections by not fulfilling promises made to them. He said they would continue to fight against the CM and the ruling TRS party till they fulfilled the promises made to the people. (PMI)
