Hyderabad, May 25, 2025(Shoukat-PMI) In a swift operation, the Mehdipatnam Police apprehended a 20-year-old woman involved in a gold chain theft case and recovered 45 grams of stolen gold ornaments from her possession.
The accused, identified as Smt. Hathagale Sanjana, a daily labourer and resident of Mangar Basthi in Afzalsagar, was arrested on May 24 at 8:00 AM while she was attempting to sell the stolen gold at Vijaynagar Colony.
According to police sources, the theft occurred on May 20, when the victim, Smt. Gadili Hyma, a housewife from Vikarabad district, was traveling with her family from Srikakulam to Hyderabad via private bus. After reaching Mehdipatnam Bus Stop around 8:40 AM, she noticed that the zip of her handbag had been opened and gold ornaments weighing 55 grams were missing.
The stolen items included a gold chain, Laxmidevi and Anjaneyaswamy lockets, a pair of earrings, and a gold biscuit. A case was registered at Mehdipatnam Police Station under Cr. No. 157/2025 U/S 303(2) BNS.
Acting on a tip-off, the crime team led by Detective Inspector G. Bala Krishna apprehended the accused and recovered a portion of the stolen property. During interrogation, Sanjana confessed to the crime and revealed details of the theft.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior officers, including DCP G. Chandra Mohan,IPS’ Addl. DCP Iqbal Siddiqui, ACP K. Vijay Srinivas, and SHO S. Mallesh.
