PM Modi urges nation to work relentlessly towards making a new India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged the nation to come together and work relentlessly towards making a new India. In his Mann Ki Baat programme on All India Radio, Mr Modi said, in this month of August, the people should resolve to eradicate social evils like filth, poverty, corruption, terrorism, casteism and communalism. He called for launching a mega campaign ‘Sankalp Se Siddhi – Attainment through Resolve’ from 9th of August to be fulfilled in the next five years.
 
The Prime Minister said, just as the five years from 1942 to 1947 were decisive for the country’s independence, five years from now till 2022 can and must play a decisive role for the future of India. He said, this year’s 15th August should be celebrated as Sankalp Parv or the day of resolve and in 2022 marking 75 years of freedom, the nation will certainly transform into Siddhi.
 
On the Goods and Services Tax (GST), Mr Modi expressed happiness and satisfaction that its benefits are reaching the poor.
 
Referring to current floods in certain parts of the country particularly in Assam, Gujarat, Rajasthan and West Bengal, Mr Modi said, the Central government, armed forces personnel, NDRF and para military personnel are doing their best in providing relief to the disaster-stricken people. He said, government has formulated a scheme, especially crop insurance, to ensure quick settlements of farmers’ claims.
 
The Prime Minister also said, Indian festivals and its celebrations are not merely occasions of joy and merriment but are campaigns of social reform. He said, the poor get an opportunity to earn an income during Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami, Ganesh Utsav, Chauth Chandra, Durga Pooja and Diwali and this adds a spontaneous joy to the festivities. Mr Modi said, this year marks the 125th anniversary of community Ganesh Festival which was started by Lokmanya Tilak to inculcate the spirit of unity, enhance awareness in society and promote the culture of togetherness.
 
Stating that Indian daughters are bringing laurels to the country in all fields, the Prime Minister said, Indian women cricket team performed brilliantly in the recently held women cricket world cup.
 
The Prime Minister also invited people to send their views either on mygov platform or on Narendra Modi app for this year’s independence day speech.
