PM Modi: Judicial Verdicts and Legal Documents to Be Made Available in Local Languages

New Delhi, November 8 (PMI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that judicial verdicts and legal documents will be made available in local languages to ensure that every citizen can better understand the law and access justice without barriers.

Addressing the National Conference on Legal Services Day, PM Modi said, “Justice truly becomes social justice only when it is accessible to all, delivered on time, and available to every individual without discrimination.”

He emphasized that over the past few years, the government has undertaken several reforms to make access to justice easier and will continue to strengthen efforts in this direction. According to the Prime Minister, the legal aid system acts as a strong bridge between the judiciary and the common citizen.

8 Lakh Cases Resolved in Three Years

PM Modi informed that under the ‘Legal Aid Defense Counsel Scheme’ launched by the Government of India, nearly eight lakh criminal cases have been resolved in just three years. He stated that this initiative has made justice more accessible for the poor, underprivileged, and marginalized sections of society.

The Prime Minister also launched the ‘Community Mediation (Social Arbitration)’ training module, highlighting that technology has become a powerful tool for inclusion and empowerment, and that the E-Courts Project is a prime example of digital transformation within the judiciary.

Commends Translation of Judgments into 18 Indian Languages

PM Modi praised the Supreme Court’s initiative to translate judicial verdicts into 18 Indian languages, calling it a historic step toward making legal knowledge more accessible to the public.

He stressed that a citizen can only seek justice when they are aware of their rights and understand the law. The Prime Minister reaffirmed that the government’s top priority is to promote legal awareness among women, senior citizens, and weaker sections of society. (pressmediaofindia.com)
