People not trusting BRS manifesto: Uttam Kumar Reddy

Hyderabad, Nov.21 (PMI)Congress MP & Huzurnagar candidate Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy claimed on Tuesday that the common people were not willing to trust Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and that they would elect the Congress party to power in the coming Assembly elections.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of various elections meetings in Huzurnagar today, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the BRS party has lost the people’s trust and no one would believe KCR. “KCR has deceived the people with fake promises and false assurances in the last two elections. Therefore, people are not willing to undergo the same experience in these elections,” he said. Uttam Kumar Reddy reminded that the TRS (now BRS) released a 32-page manifesto with 75 major promises in the 2014 Assembly elections. The promises included Free KG to PG Education, 2BHK houses for the homeless, 12% reservation for Muslims and STs, and 3 acres of land for Dalits and STs, etc., Those promises were incredibly appealing, and people voted in favour of the TRS party. He said similar deceptive tactics were used during the 2018 elections although CM KCR confined his party’s manifesto to just 16 pages with 24 major promises. Again, several new promises like the allowance of Rs. 3,016 to the jobless youth were promised and none of them were fulfilled, he said.

“Having realised that he won’t be able to cheat the common people again, this time, KCR confined his manifesto to a single page with just 16 promises. However, people won’t trust him as they have been deceived twice,” he claimed. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that there has been tremendous public response to the six guarantees titled “Abhay Hashtham” announced by the Congress party. Further, he said all sections of society were covered in the Congress manifesto while incorporating the special needs of women, students, farmers, youth, SC, STC, BC and minorities. He said as many as 37 different topics have been covered in the manifesto; specific needs were identified and an assurance has been given to resolve them.

He said all six guarantees would be fulfilled by the next Congress government within six months after coming to power. They include Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance to women, gas cylinders at Rs 500, free travel for women in TSRTC buses across the state, and Rs 200 units of free electricity for all households. (PMI)
