Passport Verification Cell Achieves 99% Clearance Rate: DCP SB Apoorva Rao IPS

Hyderabad, December 29 ( PMI): Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Branch, K. Apoorva Rao said that the Passport Verification Cell has achieved a 99 per cent disposal rate. He stated that a total of 2,30,617 applications were received, of which 2,27,889 have been cleared, while 2,782 applications are still pending.

The DCP said that Special Branch (SB) teams identified 2,549 fake URLs, out of which 10 were taken down, while action is underway in 390 cases.

He further informed that the Special Branch received 261 threat perception reports, of which 254 were resolved, resulting in a clearance rate of 97.3 per cent.

According to him, the force monitored 7,016 programmes during the year, including 2,036 religious events, 852 protests, and 4,128 other programmes.

The DCP said that cases under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act were booked against 22 persons, and one person was bound down.

He added that Special Branch teams carry out extensive verification work, including passport verification, job and police clearance checks, threat perception assessments, and issuance of NGO and press declarations.(pressmediaofindia.com)
