New Delhi’ April 23 :(PMI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cut short his state visit to Saudi Arabia and decided to return to India tonight following a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Government sources said he will leave for India tonight. The Prime Minister was originally scheduled to return tomorrow night and will now reach India early tomorrow morning. The Prime Minister also skipped the official dinner hosted by Saudi Arabia today in view the terror incident.
Despite the shortened trip, the Prime Minister’s visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia yielded several key outcomes. Four important agreements were signed between the two nations during the bilateral engagements. These include an MoU between the Saudi Space Agency and India’s Department of Space, an MoU on healthcare cooperation between the Saudi Ministry of Health and India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a pact between the Saudi Arabian Anti-Doping Committee and the National Anti-Doping Agency of India, and a postal cooperation agreement between Saudi Post and India Post.
The visit, which marked Prime Minister Modi’s third trip to the Kingdom, also included a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Both leaders co-chaired the second meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council and agreed to expand the council’s structure, indicating the growing depth of the bilateral relationship.(pressmediaofindia.com.)
