The record spike in Coronavirus cases has increased the COVID-19 active caseloads in several States and Union Territories in the second wave of the pandemic.
The Health Ministry has said, a record number of over 3.14 lakh fresh cases have been reported in the country within 24 hours. This is the highest number of new cases registered in a single day since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in the country. With this, cumulative positive cases crossed 1.59 crore mark.
The Ministry has said, at present, there are over 22,91,000 active cases in the country which comprises 14.38 per cent of the total positive cases.
The country has also touched the grim record of highest number of deaths in a single day. A total of 2104 deaths have been reported in the country within 24 hours, taking the toll to over 1.84 lakh across the country.
Amid the rising new cases, the recovery rate has further declined to 84.45 per cent. The Ministry informed that more than one lakh seventy eight thousand people have recovered from the Coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours.
So far, more than 1.34 crore patients have been recovered from this infectious disease in the country.
