Over 110 dead of starvation in Gaza

24-07-2025

GAZA STRIP: At least 10 Palestinians have died of forced starvation in the past 24 hours in Gaza, bringing the death toll from hunger to 111, including at least 80 children, according to the territory’s Health Ministry.

Israeli forces continue bombarding Gaza as 109 aid groups call for action against Israel, warning that “mass starvation is spreading” across the enclave.

The EU has warned Israel of action over the worsening starvation crisis in Gaza, as the US said Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, will head to Europe for ceasefire talks and an aid “corridor”.

Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 59,219 people and wounded 143,045. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023 attacks, and more than 200 were taken captive.

Gaza death toll since dawn rises to 41

Medical sources told media that at least 41 people, including 10 aid seekers, have been killed since dawn.

French Foreign Ministry decries Gaza blockade, highlights grave civilian suffering

France has condemned Israel’s expanding military offensive into central Gaza, warning that the operation is worsening an already dire humanitarian crisis marked by widespread malnutrition and an imminent risk of famine.

“France strongly condemns the extension of the Israeli offensive to the centre of Gaza, where evacuation orders have led to the displacement of tens of thousands of people in Deir el-Balah and are hampering the work of numerous United Nations agencies and international NGOs,” the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

It blamed the crisis on the blockade imposed by Israel and expressed alarm over the scale of civilian suffering.

“France condemns in the strongest possible terms the Israeli shootings targeting Palestinians in Gaza attempting to obtain humanitarian aid, which have killed more than 1,000 people in the past two months, according to the UN,” it said.

Gaza authorities denounce ‘shocking confessions’ of ex-GHF worker

As we reported earlier, a US security guard who worked for the controversial US-backed GHF has criticized the organization’s food distribution system. In an interview with Israel’s Channel 12, the former worker described how contractors would use pepper-spray, throw stun grenades or fire at unarmed Palestinians who posed no threat.

The Government Media Office has now issued a statement commenting on the “shocking confessions” of the worker, saying they “serve as irrefutable evidence of the criminal and inhumane nature of this organization, which hides behind the guise of humanitarian work, while in reality playing a security and military role in areas of forced displacement, under clear intelligence and security agendas”.

The media office reiterated that the GHF does not represent any form of humanitarian or relief work and lacks the principles of humanitarian action.

“It is a tool of extortion, an assault on dignity, a direct violation of international humanitarian law, and a blatant breach of the most basic human rights,” it added.

Following the report, the GHF rejected the allegations made by the contractor, according to Israeli media.

Israel told to ‘open the gates’, let aid into Gaza

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has called on Israel to lift its blockade of essential humanitarian supplies from entering the Gaza Strip.

“Thousands of hygiene kits are packed and ready in UNRWA warehouses in Jordan and Egypt, just waiting for the green light. Open the gates. Let aid in,” UNRWA said in a social media post. (Int’l News Desk)
