Hyderabad’26 Nov (PMI) Hyderabad Traffic Police has conducted the special drive against the encroachments on footpaths and carriageways in Tolichowki main road. The operation ROPE (Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments) was personally led by Sri. CV Anand, IPS Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad. The traffic police mobilized manpower, cranes, proclain, LMVs and carried out the removal of encroachments.
As per the instructions of CP Hyderabad, Hyderabad Traffic Police took up the special drive against the unauthorized use of Sirens in four wheelers as they are posing a threat to road safety and public order, create confusion, panic, disrupt traffic flow and can lead to road accidents. During the last one month the Traffic Police seized 1015 sirens and 525 multi-tone horns.
Today the C.P, Hyderabad has ordered the destruction of the seized sirens and horns by crushing them under a road roller along the Tolichowki road.
These special drives under ROPE will be continued against encroachments and obstructive parking across the Commissionerate to clear the footpaths and recover the road width.
The CP while addressing the media said that ROPE will be carried in Hyderabad city in an intensified manner. Unless the footpaths are cleared and the carriageway is free of obstruction, the traffic congestion won’t subside. Most of these roadside vendors are not poor. They are from other states and encroaching the public places by paying hefty sums to the local mafia like elements. It is surprising to note that the shopkeepers are leasing the space in front of their shops for a decent sum. To find a solution to the traffic problem, people, politicians and officials of all departments should cooperate. And even without the cooperation of local politicians, some problems will arise said CP Hyderabad. We invited the local MLA for this program. But for some reason he could not come. There have been many encroachments on footpaths in Hyderabad city.-
Under 3 Commissionerates approximately 88 lak vehicles are roaming on roads per day. In order to control such high flow of traffic on roads along with Hyderabad traffic police department cooperation from citizens , politicians ,other organization is required. Auto drivers should be educated regarding parking their vehicles properly.
The Chief minister of Telangana has also denied the usage of green channel for his convoy. Apart from police patrolling vehicles no other personnel is permitted for the usage of sirens .
