Police of Shamshabad SOT under Cyberabad are cracking down on gangs involved in cricket betting. In this order, the RGI and Shamshabad SOT police jointly raided and arrested two organizers of two different gangs who were betting on the ongoing IPL-23 cricket match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians

Hyderabad ; (press media of india): Police of Shamshabad SOT under Cyberabad are cracking down on gangs involved in cricket betting. In this order, the RGI and Shamshabad SOT police jointly raided and arrested two organizers of two different gangs who were betting on the ongoing IPL-23 cricket match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians. 27 lakhs 500 cash and goods worth 2.50 lakhs were seized from the accused. To this extent, DCP Narayana Reddy revealed the details in a press conference organized at the Shamshabad Zone DCP office on Wednesday.

Suresh from Bhimavaram area of AP is conducting online cricket betting based in Hyderabad. From him, through the app called ‘Kovvuru1777’, other sub bookies get access and conduct betting in those areas through WhatsApp and other online apps. As a sub-bookie of Suresh, Chunduru Jagadish from Visakhapatnam area is living in Puppalaguda of the city and is engaged in cricket betting. He is collecting huge amount of money by conducting betting with punters through WhatsApp and other online apps. In this order, on Wednesday, the RGIA and Shamshabad SOT police conducted a joint raid while betting on Sunrisers Hyderabad-Mumbai Indians match at DSR Hotel in Maduranagar Colony. Chundur Jagadish was arrested in these raids. Along with Rs.24 lakhs and 500 cash from him, 4,10,868 in the bank account was seized. Apart from that, six cell phones were seized.

In another case , the SOT team along with the local RGI police raided the hotel after receiving reliable information that online cricket betting was being conducted at Fortune Bliss Hotel in Shamshabad for Rs.5.50 lakhs . In these raids, T. Kripanandam from Kukatpally, who was conducting cricket betting online, was caught red-handed. Rs.3 lakh cash, line board, 14 keypad phones, smartphone and laptop along with assets worth Rs.5.50 lakh were seized from the accused. The police said that a case has been registered against the accused under the Gaming Act at the KPHB police station in the past. Bangalore-based Chaitanya Reddy, the main accused in the case, is absconding.

Under the supervision of Shamshabad Zone DCP Narayana Reddy, SOT DCP MA Rashid, Additional DCP P. Narayana on the orders of Cyberabad Police Commissioner Stephen Ravindra, Shamshabad SOT Inspector B. Satyanarayana, RGIA Inspector R. Srinivas and many other personnel participated in these raids.(PMI)
