NORTH ZONE: CO-ORDINATION CUM AWARENESS MEETING WITH COMMUNITY ELDERS / MASJID IN CHARGES

Hyderabad;30 Nov 2024(PMI) In a recent coordination meeting chaired by the Ms. S. Rashmi Perumal, IPS Dy. Commissioner of Police,North Zone,, discussions were held with Masjid committee members and representatives from various Masjids to enhance security and community safety at religious worship places. The meeting underscored the importance of proactive measures to ensure the safety and sanctity of Masjids, especially during Ramadan and other festive seasons, in the wake of recent concerns.
Key points of discussion included:
1. Enhanced Security Measures:
The DCP emphasized the need for robust security infrastructure, including comprehensive CCTV coverage and adequate lighting inside and around Masjid premises to deter criminal activities.
2. Trained Watchmen & Regular Maintenance:
Masjid authorities were advised to employ trained watchmen for round-the-clock security and to ensure that garbage bins are emptied frequently to prevent stray animals from spreading garbage.
3. Traffic Management:
Encouragement was given for community carpooling during Ramadan and other festivals to avoid traffic congestion and parking issues.
4. Community Awareness Initiatives:
The DCP urged Masjid management to collaborate in raising awareness about social media rumors, drug menace, cybercrime, online offenses, and crimes against women, particularly on platforms frequented by local communities.
5. Fire and Electrical Safety:
The need for regular fire and electrical safety audits was highlighted to prevent accidents, especially during the busy festival periods.
6. Emergency Contact Information:
Masjid authorities were requested to display the contact numbers of the local Station House Officer (SHO), Sector Police SIs, and the emergency number ‘100’ prominently within the Masjid premises.
7. Cooperation with Police:
Masjid managements were urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in safeguarding the community and maintaining peace, particularly during religious festivals.
Moving Forward:
The meeting was concluded with a commitment from both the police and the Masjid managements to continue working together in a coordinated effort to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of the community while respecting Islamic sentiments.
The Police Department expressed its appreciation for the active participation and commitment of the community elders in ensuring the safety, hygiene, and well-being of their congregants.
