Nizamabad, Oct. 19 (Shoukat-PMI): Nizamabad Police have arrested Shaik Riyaz, the prime accused in the murder of CCS Constable E. Pramod, amid widespread rumors of an encounter in the Sarangapur forest area.
Police Commissioner P. Sai Chaitanya clarified that the accused was caught alive on Sunday after a tip-off led police to his hideout. Contrary to social media reports, there was no encounter. Riyaz and another man, identified as Asif, sustained injuries during an altercation and were shifted to the government hospital for treatment.
According to officials, Riyaz, aged 24 and a resident of Hashmi Colony, allegedly stabbed Constable Pramod in the chest on Friday night at Vinayak Nagar while being escorted to the police station. Pramod succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while Riyaz fled.
Following the brutal murder, DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy ordered the formation of special teams to trace the accused. A cash reward of ₹50,000 had been announced for information leading to Riyaz’s arrest.
Riyaz has a criminal record involving multiple cases of robbery, dacoity, and murder. Constable Pramod’s killing triggered widespread outrage among police personnel and the public alike. (pressmediaofindia.com,)
