‘Swift Women Action Team’ Announced by Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand IPS
Hyderabad, June 03(Najaf Ali Shoukat-PMI) In a significant move to enhance healthcare infrastructure in the city, the government has commenced the construction of a new building for Osmania Hospital within the Goshamahal Police Stadium premises. Hyderabad Police Commissioner Sri C.V. Anand IPS inspected the ongoing works on Monday and briefed the media on key developments.
Speaking to the media, Sri Anand stated that with the new Osmania Hospital building under construction, the police department’s existing blocks are being relocated. He informed that the horse ground and stables have been temporarily moved to the vacant space within the Goshamahal Police Stadium. He added that, effective today, all departments belonging to the police force will be fully shifted and handed over to the Medical Department.
The Commissioner explained that the government has allocated 11.5 acres to the Hyderabad City Police at this location. Two five-storey buildings are currently under construction: one will serve as a suitable facility for the City Security Wing (CSW), and the other will be designed for parking various vehicles seized across the city’s seven zones. Additionally, a new horse stable and ground are being prepared.
He also mentioned that the government has allocated another 2 acres adjacent to the Traffic Training Institute (TTI). Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy has personally sanctioned Rs. 55 crores for these constructions. It has been decided that the Police Housing Corporation will complete the construction of these buildings in approximately one year.
Formation of “Swift Women Action Team”
Sri C.V. Anand IPS, DG CP Hyderabad, noted that dharnas, rallies, and protests are frequent occurrences in Hyderabad city, and arresting women during such events has often presented challenges. To overcome this, a team of 35 newly recruited women constables has been formed at the Hyderabad Police Headquarters. This team has been officially named the “Swift Women Action Team.”
The Commissioner elaborated that these women have received specialized training in karate over the past few days, along with specific instruction on how to detain and manage women during protests safely. Sri C.V. Anand IPS, CP Hyderabad, stated that more personnel will be recruited soon, and the team will be expanded into two platoons, comprising a total of 42 members. He extended his congratulations to the officers and all team members who have meticulously prepared the Swift Women Action Team.
