Narendra Modi govt has zero tolerance for terror, asserts Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur

New Delhi’Dec 19’2022-Union Information and Broadcasting minister Anurag Singh Thakur today stressed that the approach adopted by Narendra Modi Government is zero tolerance for terror. Mr Thakur said, decisive action has given definitive results. Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, the minister highlighted that after surgical strikes and Balakot strikes and strike after strike against terrorists has reduced terrorism by 168 per cent in Jammu and Kashmir since 2014.

He had a word of caution to Pakistan as it must stop backing terrorism and terror funding or else they themselves will face the heat of it. He said, the conviction rate in terror financing is 94 per cent. Mr Thakur said, the Modi government did not hesitate to ban an outfit (PFI) that promoted radicalisation on the pretext of social welfare. He reiterated action against radical organisations will continue.

The minister highlighted that era of peace started in the northeast after 2014 as there is 80 per cent reduction in insurgency violence, 89 per cent reduction in civilian deaths, and 6000 militants surrendered after 2014. Mr Thakur said there is 265 per cent reduction in left-wing extremism.

He highlighted how the Modi government considered the life of every citizen important. Mr Thakur said, over 22500 were resued during the Russia-Ukraine war under operation Ganga and in the 2021 operation-Devi shakti around 670 India citizens were rescued safely from Afghanistan. In the Wuhan evacuation, 647 Indians were evacuated.
