Narayanpet, Nov 3, (PMI) In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Narayanpet District Police arrested ten members of an inter-state gang involved in the illegal transportation and sale of marijuana. The police seized 12.4 kilograms of marijuana, ₹10,000 in cash, 10 mobile phones, and two motorcycles from the accused.
District Superintendent of Police Dr. Vineeth, IPS, said in a press conference that the operation was conducted as part of a special drive against drug smuggling in the district.
According to police reports, on the outskirts of Kunsi village in Krishna Mandal, Sub-Inspector SM Naveed and his team from Krishna Police Station were conducting vehicle checks when they intercepted two motorcycles carrying five persons. The team found marijuana concealed in bags being transported to Narayanpet district around 3 p.m. on November 2.
Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to illegally transporting the contraband from Solapur in Maharashtra and Yadgir in Karnataka for sale in Telangana. Based on the information provided, police later apprehended five more accused at Krishna Railway Station, leading to the complete bust of the gang.
Further investigation revealed that Mohammad Sufiyan Shah, one of the arrested persons, had previously been involved in a similar case registered in Narayanpet. The gang had allegedly been engaged in inter-state marijuana smuggling for the past two years.

SP Dr. Vineeth stated that all the accused were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. He also warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in smuggling, transportation, or sale of marijuana in the district.(pressmediaofindia.com)
