Naidu keen on power reforms to make consumers happy

Amaravati, May.24 (PMI): With the prime objective to make Andhra Pradesh an  all-round developed State with global infrastructural amenities, Chief Minister has decided to reform the electricity sector further for a sustainable low and affordable tariff to the consumers.

“I am determined to dedicate fruits of the second phase of power sector reforms to the people by making every consumer happy with world class quality supply and services at most affordable prices. The Govt has been supplying free power to farmers and now we are contemplating to keep the tariffs to Industrial sector constant for long term (less than Rs 4 per unit for 20 to 25 years to attract national and international entrepreneurs for achieving rapid economic growth and employment generation for the youth of Andhra Pradesh”, he said.

“Prepare a road map for further strengthening the power sector by building new generating stations using super critical boiler technology, reducing T&D losses to below 6%, promotion of energy efficiency measures and so on with an ultimate aim of achieving stable low-cost power supply system”, the Chief Minister directed during teleconference for a pre-review of power sector in the context of District Collector’s Conference on May 25 and 26 being conducted to focus on Action plan 2017-18. He also suggested to his Energy Minister of K. Kala Venkata Rao to obtain suggestions/feed back from stake-holders by conducting periodical consumer meetings to understand their needs and ensure that the second reforms are well executed and each consumer is benefited.

During the review, Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary, Energy, K. Vijayanand, Prl. Secy, IT, CMD, APTRANSCO and MD,APGENCO also  spoke. (PMI)
