NABBED ONE ACCUED – FOR ILLEGALLY PROCURING AND SELLING OF COVID-19 ANTIVIRAL DRUGS I.E. REMWIN (REMDESIVIR) INJECTIONS ON HIGER PRICE

On 21-05-2021, the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone team apprehended one accused by name Marthi Raja who is procuring generic version of Remdesivir injections which are being used for Antiviral medicine for Covid-19 patients and selling the same on higher rates for earning money illegally near Aghapura Functionhall, Habeeb Nagar, Hyderabad. Seized (4) Remdesivir Injections and (4) Meropenem Injections from his possession.

Particulars of accused:-

Marthi Raja S/o M.Brahma Lingaiah, aged 22 yrs, Occ: Nurse in Care Hospital, Musheerabad, Hyderabad, R/o Care Boys Hostel, Nampally, Hyderabad, N/o H.No.1-64, Gandrai (V), Jaggayyapeta (M), Krishna Dist,

Modus operandi:-

The accused Marthi Raja is native of Gandrai (V), Jaggayyapeta (M), Krishna Dist. He is working as male nurse Care Hospital, Musheerabad, Hyd from last one year. Due to Covid-19 incidents he observed that most of the public is suffering from non availability of Remdesivir Injections for the treatment of Covid-19 positive patients. As such he hatched a plan to gain easy money illegally by illegal procuring and selling of Covid Antiviral drugs on high price to needy customers. The accused is illegally selling the Remdesivir injections to the needy people on high prices without any doctor medical prescription and bill to needy customers and gain illegal easy money.

The actual cost of the Remdesivir (Rem Win) injection is Rs.2,450/-, due to Covid-19 incidents most of the public is suffering for non availability of Remdesivir Injections but the accused Marthi Raja is selling the injections on higher rate i.e. Rs.18,000/- and earning money illegally.

Today i.e. on 21-05-2021, the accused Marthi Raja came near Aghapura Fuction hall, Habeeb Nagar, Hyderabad to sell “Remdesivir (Rem Win)” injections to the needy customers, in the meantime the West Zone Task Force team apprehended him and seized (4) Remdesivir Injections and (4) Meropenem Injections from his possession.
PROCEDURE OF SALE/USE OF ABOVE MENTIONED DRUGS:

It has been clearly mentioned on the box that the medicine is supposed to be meant for institutional/Hospital sale only. Remdesivir drug comes with a consent form that has to be filled and signed by the patient/attendants and concerned doctor at the time of administration of drug. A copy of consent form has to be handed over to patient or attendants. It is the duty of the institution to ensure availability of consent form all the time especially during inspection by CDSCO/DCGI.

The accused along with seized material was handed over to SHO, Habeeb Nagar PS for taking further action.

The arrest was made under the supervision of Sri P.Radha Kishan Rao, Dy.Commissioner of Police (OSD), Commissioner’s Task Force, by Sri P.Rajesh, Inspector of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone team along with SIs Sri Md.Mujaffar Ali, Sri P.Mallikarjun, Sri N.Ranjith Kumar, Sri Sheik Kaviuddin and the staff of West Zone team, Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad City.(PMI)
