Hyderabad; 11 Nov 2023 ( PMI ): The sleuths of TSNAB along with Afzalgunj Police, Hyderabad apprehended (2) notorious Interstate drug transporters who were found in possession of narcotic drugs in the limits of Afzalgunj Police Station, Hyderabad, and seized Nitravet Tablets (Psychotropic drug) & Mobile Phones all W/Rs.30,000/- from their possession.

The accused Birju Upadhay hails from Bidar District, Karnataka State, and was involved in (13) criminal cases a rowdy sheet is being maintained at Merketa Police station, Bidar, Karnataka. For the last 14 years, he along with his family members has been supplying the Nitravet Tablets to various peddlers in Hyderabad, Bidar, and Gulbarga with the help of his associate Kishan Vittal Rao Kamble. He used to procure the Nitravet tablets (Psychotropic drug) illegally from a known person by the name of Suprith Navale N/o Gulbarga, Karnataka State for Rs.2,000/- each box containing 300 tablets and supplying the same to the drug peddlers at Hyderabad for Rs.5,500/- and earning money illegally. He along with his two wives, son Aravind and his mother-in-law Ranu Bai used to transport the drug-containing tablets to Hyderabad. He supplies the said drug to his relatives i.e., Raju and Pallavi W/o Chakradari who are residing in Manger Basthi, Habeebnagar, Hyderabad, and earning easy money. He also lured accused Kishan Vittal Rao Kamble, r/o Bidar for easy earnings, through the supply of Nitravet Tablets. Some of Birju’s relatives in Mangar Basthi, Habeebnagar, Hyderabad are also indulging in the supply of Nitravet (Psychotropic drug) tablets for easy earning.
Nitrozepam is listed Schedule H Drug and it is a hypnotic drug that is harmful for human consumption until and unless there is a prescription from a doctor. It belongs to the group benzodiazepines, it is addictive and leads to dependence and withdrawal symptoms. Its addiction changes Brain Chemistry and the addiction can be very violent.
Previously we have booked NDPS cases on peddlers and medical shops for selling and leakage of psychotropic substances and cancelled (3) licenses of medical shops/agencies through the Drug Administrative Department.
On credible information, when the accused persons were at MGBS Hyderabad carrying Nitravet Tablets to supply the same to their agents at Manger Basthi, Habeebnagar Hyderabad, meantime, the TSNAB along with Afzalgunj Police apprehended them and seized a huge quantity of Nitravet Tablets (According to psychotropic drug) from them and registered a case vide Cr. No.497/2023 U/s 8(c) r/w 22(C), 29 of NDPS Act-1985 of Afzalgunj PS, Hyderabad. The investigation is in progress to identify the other main suppliers etc.
On 4/11/2023 Habeeb Nagar PS vide Cr. No.310/2023 U/s 8(C) r/w 22(b) of NDPS Act-1985, Sec.27 of D&C Act and Sec.336 r/w 34 IPC, SHO raided the residence of the accused at Mangarbasthi, Habeebnagar, Hyderabad and seized 11 Boxes of Nitravet tablets (contains Contains 30 tablets & 120 loose tablets), 22 Eskuf Syrup and Rs.16,780/- Cash from the residence of accused Nade Chakradhari. On interrogation, we came to know about two criminals in Bidar who supplied the drugs. Five Police personnel of HNEW, Hyderabad were sent to nab them. They went to the local PS Gandhi Gunj where one HC and PC assistance were given by the said PS. We raided at 1 AM having made sure that our accused was inside the house. It was a joint family all of a sudden the entire family attacked our Police party. Our party fought valiantly and could escape. One SI Sri C. Venkat Ramulu and PC Sri Naveenkanth got multiple injuries including head injuries. A case in Cr. No.198/2023 U/s 143, 147, 148, 307, 353, 332, 333, 504, 506, 149 IPC registered at Gandhigunj PS, Bidar Dist. We started surveillance on the accused persons and apprehended them within a very short time also 1464 Nitravet tablets were recovered from their possession.
APPEAL TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC:
All parents should be cautious of their children and their activities, they should be aware of these types of tablets. These tablets are being sold through a network of peddlers and also in some Pan Shops. Society, parents, schools, colleges, and police should come together and eradicate the menace of drug abuse among children, teenagers, and adolescents and retrieve the situation.
