“Call for National Unity and Patriotism at ‘One Nation, One Homeland – India’ Prof Shahid Akther
Hyderabad, December 13 (Najaf Ali Shoukat-PMI):The chief patron of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), Dr. Indresh Kumar, has called upon the citizens of India to come forward for the development of the nation and society and to play an active role in eliminating social evils. He particularly emphasized promoting communal harmony and unity, and urged people to contribute constructively towards making Hyderabad and India free from the menace of drugs.
Dr. Indresh Kumar was speaking at a seminar titled “One Nation, One Homeland – India”, held at the auditorium of the PGRR Centre for Distance Education, Osmania University, Hyderabad. The seminar was organized under the banner “India First, India Best” and witnessed the participation of prominent academicians, social leaders, intellectuals, and a large number of students.
The chief guests included Professor Shahid Akhtar, Acting Chairman, NCMI, Government of India, and Syed Ali Zaki Hussaini, Karnataka State President, All India Sufi Sajjada Nashin Council, who also addressed the gathering. Other speakers included Dr. Majeed Ahmed Talikoti, renowned oncology surgeon; Colonel Tahir Mustafa, Registrar, Jamia Hamdard; Professor P.F. Rahman, former Vice-Chancellor; and Dr. Abdul Haq, Dr. Abdul Haq Urdu University.
In his thought-provoking address, Dr. Indresh Kumar highlighted Indian identity, civilizational values, and moral responsibilities. He delivered three key messages, stating that “We are Indians first.” He said that beyond religious, linguistic, and regional identities, every citizen’s primary identity should be Indian, and unity is essential for national progress.
He further stated that human beings subconsciously think and dream in their mother tongue, which reflects their cultural roots. Emphasizing pride in Indian languages, he called for their promotion and preservation.
Referring to the eternal struggle between good and evil, Dr. Kumar cited examples such as Ram and Ravan, Imam Hussain (RA) and Yazid, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Ajmal Kasab, and Dara Shikoh and Aurangzeb. He stressed that individuals must consciously reject evil and choose the path of righteousness, as this alone helps in building a strong society and nation.
Addressing the seminar, Professor Shahid Akhtar(Officiting Chairman’NCMEI) said that the concept of “One Nation, One Homeland” conveys the message of rising above hatred, prejudice, and division. He emphasized respecting each other’s cultures, beliefs, and ideas, stating that India’s progress and strength depend on unity. He added that India’s future lies in the hands of its youth and that every responsible citizen must safeguard the nation’s unity, peace, and integrity. He concluded by saying, “Different cultures, different languages, but one heart — India.”
Other speakers also stressed national harmony, inclusion, ethical leadership, and the role of education. They encouraged the youth to take up social leadership and promote interfaith harmony. The seminar began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Professor Akhtar.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the valuable opinions shared by speakers and participants. The event successfully promoted the ideals of unity, cultural pride, moral responsibility, and positive nationalism, inspiring participants to play an active role in realizing the vision of “One Nation, One Homeland – India.”
