Mother Turns to Theft to Fund Daughter’s Engineering Studies; Arrested by Tolichowki Police

Hyderabad, September 4 (PMI): In a shocking incident, a woman working as a domestic help resorted to theft to arrange money for her daughter’s engineering education. She was later caught by the Tolichowki police.

At a press conference held on Thursday at Tolichowki Police Station, ACP Syed Fayaz, Inspector Ramesh Naik, and Additional Inspector Balraj revealed the details.

The Case:
Sabeeha Begum (36), a resident of Nizam Colony, had been working for the past 25 years at the residence of Shafi Ali Khan in Meraj Colony, Tolichowki. Recently, her daughter secured a seat in an engineering college, but Sabeeha did not have the money to pay the fees. In desperation, she committed theft at her employer’s house on August 19.

The next day, on August 20, Shafi Ali Khan lodged a complaint with the Tolichowki police, stating that about 30 tolas of gold ornaments were missing from his home. During the investigation, police grew suspicious about the domestic worker’s activities and kept her movements under surveillance.

On Thursday morning, reliable information reached the police that a woman was behaving suspiciously at Om Jewellers in Tolichowki. Acting swiftly, Additional Inspector Balraj and his team rushed to the spot and detained Sabeeha Begum.

During interrogation, she confessed to the theft. The police recovered the stolen jewellery from her possession. She was arrested and later remanded to judicial custody.
