Most successful start-up in country is Telangana: KTR

Hyderabad, March.2 (PMI):  Confederation of Indian Industry   (CII) Telangana organized its annual session and Telangana Leadership Summit under the theme “India@75: Catalyzing Change for New India” here on Wednesday.

Minister for IT, Industries & MA&UD K T Rama Rao inaugurated the conference and handed over Haritha haram, Inspiring People Practices, to the winners.

In his inaugural address, KT Rama Rao said most successful start-up in India is Telangana State. At the time of united State bifurcation in 2014, annual per capita income of Telangana was Rs 1,24,000 and today it is Rs 2,78,000. “We have registered 125% growth and State GDP was Rs. 5 lakh crore in 2014 and now it is Rs 11.54 lakh crore and there is 130% growth.

According to RBI’s Statistics report, Telangana is the fourth largest GDP contributor in the country with only 2% of the population in the country residing in the State. Telangana is being governed with 3 ‘i’ mantra i.e. Innovation, Infrastructure and Inclusiveness. “Invention and innovation could support any system to function well not only for the industry but also for any department these are very relevant. Government of Telangana could register tremendous growth adopting innovation strategies and is also fast emerging as granary of India. All stakeholders need to work together in impacting the society in a positive way”, he said.

      Deepak BaglaManaging Director & CEO, Invest India, appreciated the proactive nature of the Telangana Government. “The start-up growth story of Telangana has become a case study for many top business schools. Telangana is registering more than 10% growth rate every year and even in EoDB ranks, the State is one among the top ranks. One of the most effective single window systems in the Country is in Telangana. Entire global investor community is looking at Telangana as one of the most attractive destinations in the country”, he added.

Jayesh RanjanPrincipal Secretary, Dept of Industries & Commerce and IT, E & C Departments, said the industry could collaborate with State Government in the areas such as taking up collective responsibility to train and place the young students through internships and apprenticeship programs. He said each company could take certain number of students as apprentices every year and offer on the job training to them. “Every company could also consider providing mentorship support to start ups. CII’s Start up centre also could play a pivotal role in providing guidance in this intervention. Industry could also work with the State Government in adopting water bodies or lakes in strengthening the sustainability interventions” he added.

CK RanganathanChairman, CII Southern Region & CMD, Cavinkare Pvt. Ltd said CEOs need to create a culture for success within the organizations. COVID times have created many challenging times and strong leadership from the managements played a key role in ensuring the better positive results. Top management need to work more time on invention and need to embrace digital technologies to gain competitive edge.

Sameer Goel , Chairman, CII Telangana & Managing Director, Coromandel International Ltd, welcomed the gathering and appreciated the proactive leadership of the Government of Telangana because of which Industries had fared well and could function well in the state during the Covid, in comparison to several other states in India. The leadership in the state government is quite visionary and had driven one of the youngest states of country to a more progressive and dynamic state in the country. With their vision, they have made Telangana a model state for Industry in the country and brought significant investments providing right ecosystem for industries to flourish.

Dr Krishna Ella, CMD, Bharat Biotech International Ltd. in his special address appreciated the effort of State Government to make the young state truly dynamic. He added that that Innovation happens in Startups; and in State where government enables corporate. Telangana is fortunate to have a dynamic government.  Dr Krishna said that he is of firm belief that innovation will continue to come from Telangana. Talking about innovative history of Bharat Biotech he said that worlds first conjugate vaccine for typhoid came from Telangana. (PMI)
