Hyderabad, October 31(Syed Hussain Ali Sajjad-PMI) Former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin took oath as a Minister in the Telangana Cabinet on Friday. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Raj Bhavan, where Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath of office and secrecy The event was attended by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and other members of the State Cabinet. Azharuddin’s portfolio has not yet been disclosed, though official sources indicate he is likely to be assigned the Sports, Home, or Minorities Welfare portfolio Congratulating Azharuddin on his induction, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said his inclusion would strengthen the government’s outreach in sports and community development sectors. This is the second Cabinet expansion since the Congress government assumed office in December 2023. Earlier in June 2025, three legislators were sworn in as Ministers.
