Hyderabad, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for lacking guts on taking initiatives for welfare of farmers nationalwide.
Lashing out at the Congress and the BJP, Chief Minister KCR declared that he would lead a national movement for the cause of the farmers by coordinating with other States. The Congress and the BJP have no vision for the welfare of the farmers and successive governments had denied them power supply. It is the pink party (TRS) that kept its promise of giving power to farm sector, which will now reap benefits, he said while addressing a public meeting of farmers’ coordination panels at Ambedkar Stadium in Karimnagar.
The Chief Minister expressed anguish over Modi’s government at the Centre for lacking commitment towards the welfare farmers. If the same situation continues, there is a chance for a national movement against anti-farmer attitude of the Centre, he warned. Stressing the need for linking agriculture across the nation with NREGA scheme to help them to lead better lives, the Chief Minister said the farmers are deprived of support and MSP during the successive governments and the Centre ignored the repeated pleas he made.
Making a pledge for linking the NAREGA with the farming, KCR said the TRS MPs will raise their voice in Parliament to mount pressure on the Centre. The farm coordination panels should lead farmers for getting MSP and in protecting their interests. Stating that it was not a problem to help the farmers with collective efforts, KCR said out of 40 crore acres under cultivation across the nation, Telangana contributes 60 lakh acres. He also attributed the pathetic condition of the farmers, who were resorting to suicides, to the inefficiency and failure of the BJP and Congress governments at the Centre. “Now our aim is to make the farmer the king to rule the agriculture and flourish by getting MSP to their produce through farm panels across the State, KCR said.
