Hyderabad; June 28, 2025 (PMI): As part of the preparations for Muharram 2025, BJP Former State Spokesperson and Senior Leader Mir Firasath Ali Baqri met with Hyderabad Police Commissioner Shri C.V. Anand IPS to ensure the peaceful, safe, and respectful conduct of religious processions and observances across the city.
Baqarī’s meeting comes in line with the initiative of BJP Telangana State President and Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, who formally submitted representation letters to the Commissioner of Police and all Zonal DCPs in Hyderabad, requesting special attention to Muharram-related arrangements.
During the interaction, Mir Firasath Ali Baqri, accompanied by BJP Minority Morcha State Vice President Smt. Alka Manoj, highlighted the spiritual significance of the 10th day of Muharram, which commemorates the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (a.s.), the grandson of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s.), and his companions in the Battle of Karbala. This annual event holds deep emotional and religious importance for Shia Muslims and the broader Islamic community.
Baqri appealed for the deployment of Task Force personnel, She Teams, and Special Branch units along key procession routes and sensitive locations. He emphasized the need for effective crowd management, uninterrupted processions, and round-the-clock surveillance using CCTV cameras, especially during the 68 days of observance in Hyderabad.
Commissioner C.V. Anand IPS assured that all necessary steps will be taken for the smooth conduct of Muharram programs and that police teams will work in close coordination with community leaders and volunteers. The Commissioner reiterated that all religious events will be monitored continuously with advanced surveillance tools and security planning.
Speaking after the meeting, Mir Firasath Ali Baqri stated, “Muharram is a solemn occasion that reminds us of sacrifice, justice, and faith. I thank the Hyderabad Police for their commitment to maintaining harmony. It is our joint responsibility to uphold the sanctity and security of this sacred observance.”
The meeting reflects the BJP leadership’s proactive role in promoting peace and religious harmony across communities in Telangana.
