Minor girls lured into drugs in Old City, BJP to form ‘Rakshak’ teams: Bandi Sanjay Kumar

Hyderabad, Nov 9, (PMI): Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday accused local gangs — allegedly supported by AIMIM leaders — of luring minor girls in and around the Charminar area into consuming drugs and subsequently exploiting them. The minister said the offenders target girls from Hindu schools, record obscene video clips to blackmail them, and claimed police have not acted swiftly in several cases.

Speaking at a press conference, Bandi alleged that girls are first befriended and invited to social gatherings — for example, a Muslim girl’s birthday — where they are offered chocolates laced with drugs. Quoting the case of a minor girl from West Bengal, whom he said was abducted on October 10 and is now in a juvenile home, the minister claimed she revealed that “nine more girls were also trapped like her.”

Bandi drew a comparison with films that depict similar crimes, saying such incidents are increasing, and accused AIMIM leaders of backing the gangs. He further alleged that when suspects are arrested, AIMIM leaders intervene with the police to secure their release. He demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy constituted a special probe team to investigate and arrest those involved.

As a countermeasure, the Union Minister announced that the BJP will establish ‘Rakshak’ teams in the Old City and other areas to “protect our girls,” and warned that the state government would be held responsible if law-and-order situations arise.

The press conference included the minister’s call for swift and thorough investigations and for police action against the alleged perpetrators. The report did not include comments from AIMIM leaders or an official response from Hyderabad police or the state government.
