Hyderabad, Oct.26 (PMI): Minister for Forest Konda Surekha and Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy held a review meeting with officials at the Secretariat here on Saturday and discussed in-depth the road construction projects stalled due to pending forest clearances.
The Ministers directed the officials to expedite efforts to overcome barriers in obtaining these permissions, emphasising the importance of collaboration between two departments.
Officials from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department informed the Ministers that around 91 projects remain pending due to a lack of forest clearances.
The Ministers called for a united approach to expedite these clearances, as the delay in road construction could hinder the state’s overall development.
Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stressed that these infrastructure delays are impeding Telangana’s progress.
The R&B officials highlighted that nearly seven road construction projects have been on hold for five years due to the absence of forest approvals. In response, Minister Konda Surekha advised the Forest department to assign dedicated officers to secure these approvals faster, thereby moving these essential projects forward . (PMI)
