Hyderabad, Jan.3 (PMI): Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar has reiterated that the State government will implement six guarantees 100 percent and there is no question of going back on the promises.
Ponnam Prabhakar, who is also an in-charge Minister of Hyderabad district, received applications from people as part of the Praja Palana programme held at Anjuman School in Bolakpur Ward of Mushirabad Circle in the city on Wednesday. GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose and Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetti were also present in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Ponnam Prabhakar said about 10 lakh applications have been received across the GHMC limits since the launch of the programme and majority of the applications are mainly related to Indiramma’s houses, 200 units of free electricity, pension, Maha Lakshmi and subsidised gas.
He said it has been a month since the formation of the Congress government in Telangana and two out of six guarantees have already been implementing successfully.
“There is a tremendous response for the free travel on RTC buses and over six crore women passengers have sofar travelled on the corporation buses since the launch of the scheme,” Ponnam disclosed.
The Minister said after Congress government came to power in Telangana, the free bus facility was successful and women were expressing happiness at the facility.
Responding to the proposed strike of Auto drivers from January 6 opposing the free travel facility on the RTC buses, the Minister alleged that the BRS party was unable to digest the success of free travel scheme for women and it was provocating auto drivers against the State government.
