IMD Hyderabad Center Director Y K Reddy told our correspondent that about 75 per cent of area in Telangana likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall during the next two days.
He said the monsoon is active besides an upper air trough continuing 7.6 kilo meters high over the region. He said the depression in the Bay of Bengal crossed the Odisha coast this morning and moving towards Chhattisgarh. Under its influence, several places will receive rainfall for next four to five days across Telangana.
In view of the prediction of heavy rains education institutes in Nalgonda District have been directed to evacuate children from schools that are in old and dilapidated buildings. Meanwhile, Telangana state received an excess rainfall to a tune of 47 per cent against the average.
The rainfall data shows that 25 districts received excess rainfall while 6 others received average rainfall during the current season. On an average, the state received 189 mms of rainfall against the normal 128 mms during the month of June this year
