Hyderabad’Feb (PMI) In a major step to curb the ever-increasing traffic congestion in the city and to ensure safe and accessible transportation for students, the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate has launched an ambitious initiative. Key decisions were taken during a special meeting held at PSIOC regarding the establishment of a ‘Digital Public Infrastructure’ system.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh IPS stated that traffic issues cannot be resolved merely by widening roads, but require continuous coordination among government departments, educational institutions, and parents. He emphasized that reducing single-occupancy private vehicle drops and scientifically implementing pooled routes would significantly ease pressure on roads and resources. The system will act as a protective shield not only for school students but also for those traveling for sports training.
Officials stated that the initiative will also create employment opportunities. Trained gig workers, as well as eligible ASHA and Anganwadi workers, will be engaged as attendants and mobility supervisors. To ensure student safety, police verification will be made mandatory for all personnel involved. RTC and private buses will be brought under a unified framework to provide students with safe, comfortable, quality, and affordable transport services.
Powered by Advanced Technology
Under the supervision of the Cyberabad Security Council, the system will integrate advanced startup technologies, including environmental sustainability measures, route optimization, compliance dashboards, gate intelligence, smart mobility systems, technology-driven monitoring, and transparent management mechanisms. Each vehicle will be equipped with CCTV cameras and monitored continuously from the Command and Control Center.
Officials said the system is being designed on the lines of the globally recognized Transport for London (TfL) model. Drawing inspiration from international cities, a robust, technology-driven, and well-coordinated transport mechanism will be implemented in Cyberabad exclusively for students.
Authorities have prepared an action plan to make the system fully operational by June 2026, coinciding with the reopening of schools for the new academic year, with active participation from all stakeholders.
The meeting was attended by Traffic DCPs Ranjan Ratan Kumar and Sheshadri Reddy, ADCP Hanumantha Rao, SCSC CEO Naveed Khan, and technical experts Vijay Ganagam, Alfred, Abhinav, and Manish.(pressmediaofindia.com)
