Major Fire at Nampally Furniture Store; 2–3 Feared Trapped, Numaish Visit Deferred

Hyderabad, Jan 24 (PMI) A major fire broke out at a furniture store in Nampally, Hyderabad, on Saturday, January 24, triggering panic in the busy commercial area. At least two to three people are feared trapped inside the building, according to initial reports.

The fire erupted at Batcha Furniture Shop, located on the ground floor of a four-storey building, where scrap material was stored. Officials said the blaze is suspected to have been caused by an accidental trigger.

According to the fire control room, 17 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. While no casualties have been confirmed so far, rescue teams faced severe challenges due to thick smoke, which hampered access to the affected areas.

Fire officials believe the victims may be trapped in the second cellar, and intensive rescue operations are underway to reach them.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar visited the site to personally supervise the firefighting and rescue efforts.

Traffic Disrupted; Public Advised to Postpone Numaish Visit

The fire led to severe traffic congestion in and around Nampally. Authorities advised the public to postpone their visit to Numaish for the day to avoid inconvenience.

The traffic police reported slow vehicular movement in the following areas:
High Court backside gate, Delhi Gate, Nayapool, Afzal Gunj Law & Order Police Station, OGH Bus Stop, Sultan Bazar, Begum Bazar, MJ Market, Ajanta Gate, and Gandhi Bhavan (left turn via Ek Minar Road).

Further updates are awaited as rescue operations continue.(pressmediaofindia.com)
