Domestic LPG price hiked by Rs 60 per cylinder to Rs 913 amid West Asia crisis
New Delhi. March 7 (PMI) In another blow to household budgets, state-owned oil marketing companies have increased the prices of LPG cylinders across India. As per the latest revision, the price of domestic LPG cylinders has been raised by Rs 60, while commercial cylinders have become costlier by Rs 114.5.
According to Indian Oil Corporation, the price of a 14.2-kg non-subsidised domestic LPG cylinder in New Delhi has increased from Rs 853 to Rs 913. This marks the second hike in domestic LPG prices within a year.
Commercial LPG cylinders, widely used by hotels, restaurants, and other businesses, have also seen a significant increase of Rs 114.5 per cylinder, which is expected to raise operational costs for the hospitality sector.
Industry experts say the rise in LPG prices is linked to the surge in global energy prices, largely influenced by escalating tensions in the Middle East. The growing military conflict in the region has raised concerns about the stability of global oil and gas supply routes, causing volatility in international energy markets.
Meanwhile, dismissing rumours circulating on social media about petrol and diesel shortages, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Indian Oil Corporation clarified that fuel stocks in the country remain adequate and supply chains are functioning normally. The companies urged citizens not to panic or rush to fuel stations and to rely only on official sources for accurate information.(pressmediaofindia.com)
