Nand Kishor Gurjar, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Loni constituency in Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday demanded that a case be filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi for their tweets regarding the Loni assault case.
Gurjar alleged that their tweets attempted to disturb communal harmony and he gave a complaint at the Loni Border police station to get a case filed accordingly.
On June 15, Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to say, “I am not ready to believe that true devotees of Ram can do this. Such cruelty is far from humanity and is shameful for both society and religion.
Meanwhile, Asaduddin Owaisi said, “In Hindutva ideology, bravery is always attacking frail elderly men or little teenagers. And always as a mob (never alone) These men are from same ideology. Muslims’ right to dignity is being snatched by Hindutvadi goons.
Two days later, Samad lodged an FIR against unidentified persons. He was accompanied by local Samajwadi Party leader Ummed Pahlwan Idrisi.
Later, he took part in a Facebook Live during which he said he was abducted and thrashed by the assailants. He also said that he was forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
However, the Ghaziabad Police which is probing the case has claimed that there is no communal angle to the incident and the man knew the assailants personally.
Ghaziabad (rural) SP Iraj Raja said, “In the first FIR, which was filed on June 7, the victim didn’t name anybody and neither told us about being abducted and thrashed and forced to chant Jai Shri Ram. It came to light after a local leader did a Facebook live with him and we subsequently lodged an FIR under relevant sections.
