Hyderabad, May 3 (PMI): The leopard, wehich entered the precincts of shamshabad airport five days ago, was finally caught in a cage. The leopard had come to the cage in the early hours of Friday to eat a goat cub that had been used to lure them. The leopard tried to eat the cub in the cage but got trapped in the cage. Shamshabad airport officials and the forest department officials heaved a sigh of relief following its capture . The forest staff had been working hard for the past five days to capture the leopard in a cage that was roaming in and around Shamshabad. chief conservator of forests R.M. Dobriyal said that they caught the leopard at 2.15 am.
On The 28th of last month, the leopard had entered the Shamshabad airport area by jumping from Gollapalli in the early hours. An alarm was raised in the airport control room after it came in contact with electric fencing wires while it was jumping the compound wall . The airport staff noticed the leopard’s movement and informed the forest department officials. Since then, forest department personnel have been searching for the leopard.
The forest department officials made several attempts to catch the leopard roaming in and around Shamshabad airport for the past five days. Five cages and 20 cameras have been installed to capture the leopard. The leopard trapped in the cage will be shifted to the city based Nehru Zoological Park. Forest department officials said that the leopard’s health condition at the zoo would be checked and shifted to Amrabad Tiger Reserve. (PMI)
