BEIRUT Lebanon’s Health Ministry has accused Israel of carrying out a “series of war crimes” in its targeted killing of medical staff and destruction of health facilities after Israeli air strikes killed a hospital director in the northeast of the country and five paramedics were slain in the south.
The head of the UN’s World Health Organization (WHO) has called for an “immediate end” to fighting at Gaza’s besieged Kamal Adwan Hospital after an Israeli drone attacked the facility and wounded four medical staff and two patients.
In Lebanon, 226 health workers and patients have been killed since the outbreak of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in October 2023 and up to the start of this week, the WHO said in a new report.
Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed at least 44,056 Palestinians and wounded 104,286 since October 7, 2023. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day, and more than 200 were taken captive.
In Lebanon, at least 3,645 people have been killed and 15,355 wounded in Israeli attacks since the war on Gaza began.
The Israeli military said that it counted around 80 rocket launches crossing from southern Lebanon into northern Israel on Friday.
Earlier, we reported that Hezbollah had fired three waves of rockets, a total of 30 projectiles in less than 20 minutes, towards northern Israel, according to Israeli Army Radio.
The Lebanese armed group says it has launched the rockets at Israeli forces in the Deir Mimas triangle.
No casualties have been reported.
The Israeli military has assaulted an ambulance crew and detained a female ambulance officer in the village of Osarin, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, the Wafa news agency reports.
An ambulance driver told Wafa that Israeli forces detained the crew members, assaulted and interrogated them, before searching their vehicle and arresting the female paramedic for several hours.

An Israeli strike on a building in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City in northern Gaza has killed at least seven people, including children, and wounded several others, our Al Jazeera Arabic colleagues report.
Three people have also been killed and 24 wounded after an Israeli attack on a house near tents housing displaced people in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.

Yet another day of Israel’s relentless bombardment of Lebanon began in the early hours of Friday morning, with the southern suburbs of Beirut and the city of Tyre in the country’s south facing attacks.
Israeli forces have also targeted paramedics responding to scenes of carnage, killing at least five medical workers in two separate attacks in southern Lebanon on Friday. (Al Jazeera)
