IPS Officer Kiran Khare Champions Community Policing in Telangana
Hyderabad’Nov 21 (Najaf ali Shoukat-PMI)_Under major administrative changes, the Telangana government has implemented transfers and new postings of several IPS officers across the state, aimed at strengthening the police system and improving administrative efficiency. These changes have been carried out across key zones of Hyderabad Police as well as in various districts and special units of the state.
In this context, Khare Kiran Prabhakar (IPS, 2017 batch) has been transferred from Jayashankar Bhupalpally district and appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South Zone, Hyderabad.
Khare Kiran Prabhakar, widely known as Kiran Khare, is a 2017-batch IPS officer of the Telangana cadre, currently serving as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district. Born on 16 April 1991, Khare holds a B.Tech degree and was confirmed as an IPS officer on 5 September 2020.
After completing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad, he began his career with the Nirmal Superintendent of Police. In March 2021, he took charge as Bhainsa Sub-Divisional Police Officer (DSP), focusing on maintaining peace, preventing communal clashes, and ensuring impartial investigations. He has also served in Greyhounds, Telangana’s elite anti-Naxal force, and was later posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South-West Zone, Hyderabad City.
SP Khare is noted for his innovative village-level CCTV network in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, which includes approximately 2,500 cameras installed through community participation. Villagers contribute funds, form local maintenance teams, and assist in managing the system, highlighting Khare’s focus on grassroots policing and citizen engagement.
He also promotes youth involvement and community programs, participating in initiatives such as the Praja Bharosa Volleyball Tournament, emphasizing sports as a tool for social development. His public presence extends to social media, with Instagram describing him as a “Dreamer (IPS 17) Telangana cadre”, and X/Twitter handle @KiranKhare_IPS.
