Hyderabad, Nov. 5 (Najaf Ali Shoukat-PMI): In a swift operation, the Khairatabad Police, in coordination with the Central Zone DCP Team, busted an illegal racket involved in the transportation and storage of PDS rice on Wednesday afternoon.
According to DCP Central Zone Smt. K. Shilpavalli, IPS, the operation was launched around 1:30 p.m. on November 5, 2025, as part of a special drive against diversion of essential commodities. During the drive, the team apprehended one person, Md. Azar (24), son of Md. Moin, a resident of BJR Nagar, Khairatabad, while he was transporting illegally procured PDS rice on a two-wheeler bearing registration number TS09FV3081.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Azar had collected the rice from PDS beneficiaries and was transporting it to his associate Abdul Rahman’s residence at BJR Nagar. Acting on credible information, the DCP Central Zone team, along with Khairatabad Police, reached the location and intercepted the consignment while it was being shifted into the premises.
On inspection, the police found 27 plastic bags containing approximately 1,000 kilograms (10 quintals) of illegally stored PDS rice inside Abdul Rahman’s house.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify others involved in the illegal procurement and distribution network.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Hyderabad City Police, stated that strict action will be taken against anyone engaged in the illegal transportation or hoarding of PDS commodities meant for public welfare. (pressmediaofindia.com)
