KCR to Sound Poll Bugle; Spell Out Plans about Federal Front at TRS Plenary

Hyderabad, April.24 (PMI): Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will utilize the ensuing TRS Plenary to sound the poll bugle to prepare his “pink brigade” for the prestigious battle royal in 2019 to not only remain as an undisputed leader by retaining power in Telangana State but also make his presence felt in national politics in the future.
The TRS Plenary which is part of the 17th Foundation Day celebrations of the ruling pink party in the state is being held on April 27 at Kompally on the outskirts of the city for which about 12000 to 13000 delegates are expected to attend. Brisk arrangements are being at the sprawling venue, especially keeping in view the scorching summer heat. Nine committees have been set up to look after various arrangements which are bring closely monitored by IT Minister K. T. Rama Rao.
Keeping in view the 2019 elections and the need to bolster the image of the TRS, which of late has been at the receiving end for various omissions and commissions, the Chief Minister is fully aware that the Congress, which is practically the main opponent of TRS, has stepped up its onslaught against the government on various issues. He is also aware of the dissentions and frictions creeping in the party cadre due to certain activities of some of his ministers as well as legislators. Thus KCR while sounding the poll bugle for preparing his TRS cadre for the elections, might also sound a strong warning to the “erring leaders” to mend their ways lest they might have to face the axe in order save the party image.
There is no denial of the fact that certain decisions of the TRS has helped to invigorate a divided Congress Party. For instance the expulsion of two Congress legislators — Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath Kumar— from the Assembly for their alleged unruly behaviour during the Governor’s address on the opening day of the budget session of the legislature has helped the Congress gain sympathy by playing the victim card. As if this was not enough the setting aside of the expulsion by the High Court has come as a hot in the arm for the Congress and it has undoubtedly dented the image of the party. It has also given scope for the Opposition to launch a tirade against KCR for pursuing a policy of vendetta against his detractors.
Against this backdrop KCR might utilize the TRS Plenary to puncture the allegations of the Opposition by highlighting various achievements of his four-year rule in the state. He undoubtedly would vociferously explain the welfare schemes that has been launched by his government especially for the farming community and backward classes. However, while painting a rosy picture of his achievements, KCR will also use the whip against some irritants within his party. Armed with the progress reports of his ministers and legislators, KCR might convey that he might be forced to deal firmly with deadwoods as well as those whose activities might harm the image of the party.
Thus apart from spelling out his action plan to ensure victory of TRS in the coming elections and retain power in the state, the Chief Minister might also speak is mind about making his foray into national politics. Having floated the idea of forming an anti Congress and anti BJP federal front, KCR will try to seek the support and endorsement of his party cadre for playing an active role in national politics in the coming days. It is pertinent to note here that AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, on the issue of Special Category Status to AP, has suddenly emerged as a friend-turned-foe of BJP. Besides his anti-Congress posture is also well known. There is no doubt Chandrababu Naidu, a former ally of BJP, has now become a prominent leader among the conglomeration of Opposition leaders joining hands to forge a third front against the BJP. Interestingly, though Chandrababu Naidu is anti-Congress, he might not be averse to be part of a third front having Congress to fight against BJP.
Though KCR has been floating the idea of a Federal Front against both Congress and BJP, his arch rival undoubtedly is the Congress Party. One cannot ignore the fact here that despite TRS’s anti-BJP stance, KCR might not want to rub the BJP on the wrong side as of now despite expressing his displeasure against the saffron brigade. Interestingly, while Chandrababu Naidu has been meeting various Opposition party leaders for the sole purpose of eliciting support for his fight to secure SCS status for AP, Chandrasekhar Rao has been meeting various leaders specially for the main objective of forming a Federal Front and undoubtedly he has taken a lead over Naidu in this matter. Thus KCR who has been of late espousing the imperative need for a qualitative change in Indian politics and or which there is an urgent need to form an alternative front at the national level, might even give a clarion call to all the Opposition parties to join hands in the formation of a Federal Front to enter the poll fray in 2019.
