Hyderabad, Sept 19 (PMI) The Jubilee Hills Police have apprehended seven individuals involved in a criminal conspiracy to misappropriate ₹8,71,000 from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). The accused, identified as fake beneficiaries, fraudulently deposited sanctioned CMRF cheques into their personal accounts, depriving genuine victims of relief.

The investigation revealed that the accused colluded to divert funds meant for genuine beneficiaries. Cases have been registered under Cr. Nos. 254/2024, 273/2024, 284/2024, 470/2025, and 476/2025 at Jubilee Hills PS, Hyderabad. Offences are booked under Sections 409, 417, 419, 467, and 120(B) IPC and Section 66(C) IT Act.
Modus Operandi:
Accused A1 misused access to CMRF cheques while working at the minister’s office.
After the 2023 elections, 230 undistributed cheques were unlawfully taken.
Nineteen cheques were deposited into SBI accounts at Jubilee Hills using forged details.
The total misappropriated amount of ₹8,71,000 was shared among the accused.
During interrogation, the seven newly arrested individuals voluntarily confessed to their involvement. All were produced before the Hon’ble Court and remanded to judicial custody. The accused hail from Godavarikhani, Pedapally, Karimnagar District.
Investigation Status:
Efforts are ongoing to identify additional suspects and recover misappropriated funds.
Other accused persons involved in the conspiracy are currently absconding.
Previous Arrests:
Earlier, on 15.07.2025, four accused – Jogula Naresh Kumar (42), Balagoni Venkatesh (37), Korlapati Vamshi (24), and Pulipaka Omkar (34) – were arrested and remanded in connection with the CMRF misappropriation.
