CALIFORNIA: The Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) lobby group says more than 700 supporters have taken over the Oakland federal building in California to demand a ceasefire in Gaza.
Video footage and photos from the protest showed hundreds of protesters in the lobby of the building, many wearing black t-shirts with the words “Jews says cease fire now” printed in large white lettering.
“We are not leaving, we demand an end to this bloodshed, we will not see Jewish grief used to perpetrate genocide,” the Bay Area chapter of JVP said on social media.
“Stop this now”.
In another post from the group, Biden’s social media handle is tagged with the message: “How long can you hold out?”
A message reads through twitter; “We have successfully shut down the building. We are going to sit in, until there is a ceasefire or we are arrested.”
Hundreds of Jews in the Bay Area are prepared to get arrested today, tomorrow, & every day till ceasefire.
However, The Israeli army confirmed the soldier’s identity in a statement shared on social media, saying, “Our hearts go out to the Marciano family, whose daughter, Noa, was brutally kidnapped by the Hamas terrorist organization”.
“We are using all means, both intelligence and operational, to bring the hostages home,” the military added.
The confirmation came after Hamas’s armed wing, al-Qassam Brigades, published a video showing Marciano in captivity.
In the video, Marciano identified herself by name and identity card number and said she had been detained in Gaza for four days.
This is the first time that Israel’s army has officially confirmed a captive’s identity since Hamas abducted about 240 people during their attacks in southern Israel on October 7, according to media.
Israeli reinforcements, including a military bulldozer used to destroy Palestinian homes, have been seen travelling towards Tulkarem in the occupied West Bank where Israeli soldiers killed two Palestinians earlier.
Mahmoud Ali Hadaida, 25, and Hazem Muhammad Hosari, 28, were shot dead by Israeli forces who raided Tulkarem late on Monday evening, the Palestinian health ministry said.
