GAZA STRIP: Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip intensify, killing some 150 people over the latest 24-hour reporting period, according to the Health Ministry in the besieged and bombarded territory.
The war on Gaza dominates an Arab League summit in Baghdad, Iraq.
The Red Crescent renews call for Israel to reopen crossings with Gaza for the entry of humanitarian aid, warning that it has been “left to starve and ache”.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 53,272 Palestinians and wounded 120,673, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. The Government Media Office updated the death toll to more than 61,700, saying thousands of people missing under the rubble are presumed dead.
An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, and more than 200 were taken captive.
A statement by the Palestinian group on Telegram has also urged the participants of the summit in Baghdad to “impose urgent sanctions” on Israel.
It said: “The occupation continues to perpetrate massacres against civilians, targeting residential neighborhoods and shelters, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries, amid a stifling blockade and a complete cut-off of aid.”
Hamas described the situation as a “full-blown genocide committed before the eyes of a world that stands helpless, while more than two and a half million people are being slaughtered in the besieged Strip”. (Int’l News Desk)
