TEHRAN/ RIYADH/ ISLAMABAD: The Iranian foreign ministry has responded to Saudi Arabia’s call for global action against Iran, calling in turn on the kingdom to refrain from “baseless allegations and hate-mongering”.
The remarks came a day after Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud urged the world to take a “decisive stance” to address Iran’s efforts to develop its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
“The kingdom stresses the dangers of Iran’s regional project, its interference in other countries, its fostering of terrorism, its fanning the flames of sectarianism and calls for a decisive stance from the international community against Iran that guarantees a drastic handling of its efforts to obtain weapons of mass destruction and develop its ballistic missiles program,” the king said in an annual address to a top government advisory body.
In a virtual press conference in Tehran, foreign ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Monday it was not “unnatural” for Saudi rulers to make such remarks.
“But I believe Iran’s message has been clear … the Saudi regime must know that peace cannot be achieved through killing the people of Yemen, the region cannot be ruled through propagating Wahhabism and takfiri (followers, supporters, facilitators, sponsors, worshipers and campaigners like Taliban including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan/ TTP and Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan/ TTA), Daesh also known as Islamic State of Iraq and Syria/ ISIS which has been partially converted into Islamic State of Iraq and Levant/ ISIL, Boko Haram/ BH which is an African countries based terrorist organization, Jamat-e-Islami/ JI, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi/ LeJ, Lashkar-e-Tayyaba/ LeT, al-Qaeda, Jaish-e-Muhammad/ JeM, Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan/ SSP, Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamat/ ASWJ etc.) groups, money cannot be spent to lobby, and resources of the Muslim world cannot be spent to betray Palestine,” he said.
“So long as Saudi rulers don’t turn back from this wrong path, there will be no prospect of improving the isolated Saudi situation even in the Persian Gulf region.”
The 84-year-old Saudi ruler also told the United Nations General Assembly in September that the world needs to combat Iran’s “expansionism”.
Saudi Arabia and Iran have been locked in several proxy wars in the region for years. In Yemen, a Saudi-led coalition has been battling the Tehran-aligned Houthi movement for more than five years.
Regional Muslim unity
On Monday, the Iranian spokesman also sent a message of unity to Muslim countries in the region.
Khatibzadeh said it is “painful” that the region finds itself in a situation where those that were supposed to help and advance it have betrayed it.
“Based on our beliefs, the hand of friendship of the Islamic Republic is still open to all Islamic countries,” he said.
“We are all familiar with the plans and schemes of the Saudis. We did not choose to be neighbors, but we are. They have no choice, and all of us have no choice, but to become united to advance this region.”
Tensions in the region have steadily grown since outgoing US President Donald Trump in May 2018 withdrew from a 2015 landmark Iran nuclear deal with world powers and unilaterally imposed sanctions on Iran.
Saudi Arabia and a number of other Arab states have been fervently supporting sanctions on Iran.
US president-elect Joe Biden has promised to return to the nuclear deal, but has said he will seek to put pressure on Iran’s regional activities and missile programs, among other things.
It is mentioned here for record of our respected readers, viewers and general public especially historians, intellectuals, teachers, students, journalists, officials particularly immigration authorities of the world that the Press Media of India (PMI), National Courier and Messenger (largely circulated Pakistani English dailies) have already been highlighted exclusive news, views, stories, articles and reports during the last three decades regarding such types of news, articles and stories as well as reporting, statements, views, predictions and all other kinds of curding which has been flashed (during this period), is being publishing (frequently) and will come in future (expected) that what has happened, what is happening and what would be happened, who were criminals, what they did, who are terrorists (alive), what they are doing across the world, who provides them shelter, where they live and what reactions may be appeared but neither the concerned ‘characters’ are ready to accept the reports of said media outlets nor they can reject any of report or claim published or on-aired yet, sources challenged.
Sources further expected that now the days are not more far away when the said immigration authorities (those not only believe on governmental and forces’ press releases, handouts, statements and claims rather than to keep themselves quite impartial and behave neutral on world most sensitive issues similar to missing persons, enforced disappearance and kidnapping, men and women target killings, Shia genocides and violation against minorities but quote them as reference at the time of deciding the protection visa cases) those are really the supporters and partners of criminals and terrorists would have to face serious consequences in their own countries and at their own offices, homes and seats so, they must have to be careful, change their attitudes, behaviors and mindsets otherwise an especial network (which is closely monitoring about all biased immigration authorities, case officers, concerned officials, leaders, rulers, decision makers and other so-called pundits) may issue an alert and caution against them, sources warned.
