Hyderabad, May 29′(Shoukat-PMI)Acting on credible intelligence, the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Maheshwaram Zone, in coordination with Balapur Police under the Rachakonda Commissionerate, apprehended two individuals involved in the illegal possession and trade of firearms. The operation resulted in the seizure of five country-made weapons (Tapanchas) and 18 live rounds.
The arrested individuals, identified as Mohammed Zeeshan (28) and Mohammed Ameer (24), both hail from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh but had been residing in Hyderabad. Zeeshan is the owner of three hair salons in the city, while Ameer works as an assistant in one of his establishments.
The Plan to Smuggle Firearms
According to the police, Zeeshan, struggling to fund his extravagant lifestyle, devised a plan to procure illegal firearms from Rampur at low cost and sell them in Hyderabad at a premium. He roped in Ameer, a trusted friend and colleague, to execute the plan.
The duo allegedly contacted Arshi Khan, a resident of Rampur with connections to illegal firearm manufacturers. A few days ago, they successfully acquired five country-made weapons and 18 rounds of ammunition and planned to sell them to anti-social elements in Hyderabad.
The Arrest
On Thursday morning, the police intercepted the accused near Royal Colony, Balapur, as they were transporting the firearms to one of Zeeshan’s salons for storage. Upon inspection, authorities seized five Tapanchas, 13 live 8mm rounds, five 12-gauge shotgun shells, and two mobile phones.
Police Action
The two accused have been booked under the Arms Act and remanded to judicial custody. The case has been registered under Cr. No. 220/2025, and further investigations are underway.
