Hyderabad, April 23: An inter-state gang has been busted by the police for committing a series of robberies in the city by pretending to be deaf and dumb in the hope of earning easy money after getting used to a luxurious life. CCS Madapur and KPHB police conducted surveillance and caught him. DCP Srinivasa Rao revealed the details in a press conference organized at Balanagar DCP office in Shapur on Friday. G. Vadivelu (27), Mariappan Anniyappan (28), Satthivelu (23) and Sathyaraj (20) from Vellore district of Tamil Nadu formed a gang. They wanted to steal laptops and cellphones to earn easy money. He came to the city and stayed on rent in Patancheru.
Orphan Charity High School, Kerala Perita print leaflets and target hostels and bachelors rooms in many areas and collect financial assistance from them. In this order, the bachelors room locks are observed in the surrounding areas of the house. They come to the room in their absence and steal the laptops. Apart from this, they enter hostels, hospitals and various institutions and steal valuables and sell them at low prices to make money. From 2019 to 2023, 105 cases were registered against them in the Cyberabad Commissionerate. Two laptops and two cellphones were seized from the accused along with Rs.5 lakh cash.
Stupid with the dumb acting…
The main accused Vadivelu was earlier arrested by the CCS police under suspicion. The police believed him because he pretended to be dumb. When he came out of the station and was talking on the phone, a constable noticed him and recorded the video and took it to the attention of the higher authorities. The police, shocked to see him, interrogated the accused in their own style and the truth came out. He congratulated the CCS and KPHB police for handling the case tactfully. CCS Additional DCP Narsimha Reddy, ACP Shashanth Reddy, Kukatpally ACP Chandrasekhar and others were present in this meeting.
