Hyderabad, November 7(Karrar Abedi-PMI): Tension broke out in Motinagar on Friday as police conducted searches at the residence of former BRS MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election on November 11.
The Election Flying Squad, accompanied by nearly 100 police personnel, arrived at the former MLA’s house around 11 a.m. Janardhan Reddy and his supporters, who were present at the gate, were stopped from entering, leading to heated exchanges with the authorities.
“This area falls under Kukatpally constituency and is unrelated to Jubilee Hills. Show me the notice for the search,” Janardhan Reddy told the police, according to BRS leaders. Despite his objections, the squad conducted the searches, though nothing illegal was found.
BRS leaders claimed the house was being used as a guest house for relatives and friends, and not as the former MLA’s residence. They displayed vests and briefs, saying these were the only items recovered, and accused the Congress government of harassing their leaders.
MLC T. Ravinder Rao was reportedly staying at the house, but the party argued that the election code does not apply to the Kukatpally constituency. (pressmediaofindia.com)
