Hyderabad, Sept 6′(Ali Abbas-PMI)The Hyderabad Traffic Police has announced elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the Ganesh Festival 2025 immersion processions scheduled for September 6 and 7.
Addressing the media, Sri D. Joel Davis, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), said that the festival, which began on August 27, will conclude with the grand idol immersions across the city. The main immersion procession, covering nearly 18 km from Balapur to Hussain Sagar, is expected to witness the participation of over one million devotees.
Special Arrangements

Khairatabad Ganesh: The 69-foot idol, installed on August 27, will be immersed on September 6 at NTR Marg (Crane No.4). About 80 traffic personnel are deployed in two shifts to manage the 2.5 km procession route from Khairatabad to Hussain Sagar.

Traffic Deployment: A total of 3,183 personnel, including traffic police and outside forces, will work in shifts for round-the-clock monitoring.

Technology Support: 40 high-rise cameras, watchtowers, public address systems, and CCTV networks will ensure real-time surveillance. A special monitoring team will track congestion points and reroute traffic where necessary.

Eco-Friendly Measures: To encourage green immersions, baby ponds, portable rubber tanks, and excavation tanks have been set up at Sanjeevaiah Park, Jalavihar, NTR Stadium, Imax Theatre, Exhibition Grounds, Chilkalguda, Ameerpet, Saidabad, Chintalbasthi, Gudimalkapur, Amberpet, and other locations.
Traffic Restrictions and Diversions
Traffic curbs will be in effect from 6:00 AM on September 6 to 10:00 AM on September 7 along the main procession routes and may be extended if needed.

Diversions will be in place at major junctions including Keshavagiri, Chandrayangutta, Moosarambagh, Chaderghat, Charminar, Madina X Road, Afzalgunj, Koti, MJ Bridge, Liberty, Khairatabad, Telugu Talli, and Tank Bund.

Parking Zones: Dedicated parking has been arranged at NTR Stadium, Katta Maisamma Temple, Public Gardens, Buddha Bhavan, Adarsh Nagar, BRK Bhavan, GHMC HQ, Institute of Engineers, and Khairatabad MMTS.

Heavy Vehicles: Entry of heavy commercial vehicles into the city is banned during immersion and must use the Outer Ring Road.

RTC Buses: City buses will be curtailed beyond Masab Tank, VV Statue, CTO, Ramanthapur, Gaddi Annaram, and Tarnaka, while interstate and district buses will ply on alternate routes.

Airport Travel: Citizens are advised to use the PVNR Expressway or ORR to reach the airport.
Safety Measures

Strict drunk-and-drive checks will be conducted for procession drivers.

Riot control teams are stationed at Tank Bund, Secretariat, and Rotary to prevent disturbances.

Devotees have been requested not to perform pooja at crane sites during idol feeding to avoid delays.
The Traffic Police is coordinating with GHMC, RTC, RTA, Fire Services, and other departments for road repairs, debris clearance, lighting, water supply, sanitation, and emergency services.
Joint CP Davis urged citizens to cooperate with police, follow diversions, and use Google Maps for live traffic updates. “With public support, we aim to ensure a safe, smooth, and eco-friendly Ganesh Festival,” he said.
